FCCFree Again
Score one for the Prophyt! My good friend John Miller, owner of FCCFree.com and co-host of the John and Phil Radio Show, has asked me to once again hook him up with some of my skills in web site production. If you go to The Free right now, you'll see my handywork, at least as far as the coding is concerned. John designed the template, I handled the buttons. frame code, and other little fun stuff.
Well, this time around, we're taking The Free to the next level. John's on the verge of cracking the big time in the radio scene, and to bring the site up to date with it, we're going to have some big changes coming in the next few weeks/months.
And the idea is really, really sweet, too. I don't want to go into too many specifics, because the last thing we need is for some goon to rip off our concept. But, based on the images John sent me tonight, it's going to be quite the project. I'm going to have to teach myself Flash, which shouldn't be too bad, given my background in Macromedia products from my days at AIP. Thankfully, my Photoshop skills are still up to snuff, and my design theory is still in good enough shape to pull this off.
Stay tuned to this space for updates, previews, and more!

Kickyourass Kicks K-Sped's Ass
BP contributor and all-around awesome guy Corporal Kickyourass has, in fact, done it again! This time, he actually sacrificed both his precious time and (most likely) several IQ points to watch the Teen Choice Awards, just so he could witness the appaling performance by Mr. Britney Spears himself. Prepare yourselves for the tearing of a new asshole! (Link)
Alaska Senator Outed As Anonymous Bill Blocker
So anyway, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), surprising us here at BP by actually doing something good (for a Republican) in proposing to make all pork spending available for review by the public , has his bill blocked by an anonymous hold. Hmmm, let's use some logic here. Who would want to block a bill on making pork spending public record? Probably someone with an asinine pork project. Yes, folks, the general concensus is that Sen. Ted "Bridge To Nowhere" Stevens (R-AK) is the culprit. Surprised? Neither are we. Kudos to Sen. Coburn for both proposing the bill and exposing more proof of what an asshat Sen. Stevens is... (Link -- via Fark)
Yes, I just gave kudos to a Republican. We're not THAT biased, after all. We don't care who does it: If it's good for the US, we'll back it. If it's bad, we'll attack it...

It's Official: Paris Hilton's CD Sucks
Just like she does, as we all know from that nasty little video of hers. Turns out the queen skank can't really sing, either. Her album sold 75,000 copies in it's first week, and is projected to do 30,000 in it's second. They compare it to Christina Aguilera -who actually can sing and looks way hotter with her new look - who sold nearly five times as many copies of her new album. What's worse, her people are admitting she can't back the CD up with a tour, proving that she doesn't have what it takes to be a viable act in any sense of the word. I'm sure I speak for most of the Internet when I say "Give it up, ho bag..." (Link -- via Fark)
Update: Even more Paris nonsense, for those of you who give a crap. Why do I give a crap? I just like bashing her. Anywho, Paris was asked by British singing sensation Charlotte Church to appear on her new talk show, but balked when Church's producers refused to pay her roughly $662,000. Yeah, OK. Hilton also made quite the chunk of change for attending a charity event. Now isn't that just a giving spirit... (Link)

"And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt..."
Welcome to the United States: Paranoid Delusional Paradise. Yes, folks, Homeland Security is spending your tax dollars ever-so-wisely, protecting us all from the terrorists and their... T-Shirts? Um, yeah. Just ask Raed Jarrar, who was given a hard time over an "offensive" garment that bore the slogan "We will not be silent" in both Arabic and English. Apparently, any Arabs talking is terrorist activity, and we can't have that, can we? Eventually, they made him wear a different shirt and let him board the plane, but not until after the authorities made complete and total asses of themselves by giving Mr. Jarrar the third degree.
Mr Jarrar later told a New York radio station: "I grew up and spent all my life living under authoritarian regimes and I know that these things happen.
"But I'm shocked that they happened to me here, in the US."

AT&T Pwn3d
Ha ha! With all the problems AT&T has had in recent years (selling off it's broadband unit, as well as it's cellular network, among other things), you'd think their more narrow focus would allow them to operate a bit better. Well, of course, no security is perfect, and the former telecom giant got h4x0r3d. The offenders, who most likely live in mom's basement and never get laid, managed to snake the credit card data of about 19,000 customers before the powers that be shut the online store down. On the bright side, AT&T is sucking it up and promising to pay for any damages and hassles this might cause... (Link)

Ice Cube Slams Modern Rap
Ice Cube, co-founding member of legendary Hip-Hop group N.W.A., isn't happy with the state of Rap these days, and I'm inclined to agree with him. (c)Rap music these days is all about who has how much money, how many cars, and goes to what parties. The strong message style has been tossed aside in favor of braggarts and show-offs, and that's just sad. FTA:
"Political rap has been pushed into the background, and rap has turned into bling party music. Groups like Public Enemy and KRS-One have no stage any more. I've been doing this 20 years - but rap is full of bravado now, and nobody wants to listen."Preach it, my brotha... (Link -- via Fark)
Windows Vista Prices Leaked On Amazon
Start saving your pennies, kids, because Windows Vista is going to cost you an arm, a leg, your spleen, and quite possibly a small chunk of your cerebellum. The prices were leaked in Canadian Dollars (Hey Corporal, tell me if I'm right here): $499 CDN, so it should roughly be about $459 US. $459?!? Christ on a stick! For that much, this thing had best be the single most secure and functional OS on the planet! It had better do my taxes, fix my toaster, walk the dog, and cure me of any future cancers I may develop. Yeesh! By comparison, the PlayStation 3's high-end package is going to run about the same. Vista's price is just the OS, and doesn't include the PC to put it on. For crying out loud, Bill! Aren't you rich enough yet? (Link -- via Fark)

Be Heard - Support The IBC!
With the return of BP to full-time status, it's also time to roll out the call to arms! Yes, I can only be talking about the greatest blog movement of the present day: The Impeach Bush Coalition. Sure, he's only got about a year or so left to go, but that doesn't mean we can't give that stupid asshat a black eye and a bruise on his behind when they shut the door on him. They tried to impeach Clinton because he lied about getting a hummer? Well, don't you think fucking over an entire country and hoodwinking hundreds of millions of honest (and somewhat misguided) Americans - in more ways than one - deserves the same treatment? Of course it does!
Let's take stock. First and foremost, we have the so-called "War on Terror." Shinnanigans! Let's face it folks - we're no safer today than we were on September 10th, 2001. The Bu(ll)sh(it) Administration has spent billions on "Homeland Security," and what do we have to show for it? Increased travel hassles, innocent people being tagged and harrassed due to some of the most asinine SNAFUs in history.
But the one thing we don't have - bin Laden's head on a Pike atop the Empire State Building as a warning - stands out the most.
Second, and just as foremost, is the failed war in Iraq. The military death toll continues to creep towards 3,000. The civilian death toll, depending on your source, is between 15- and 20,000 easy. Billions of dollars have again ben cyphoned into this stinking mass of failure, and all we have to show for it are continued insurgent attacks, innocent people being kidnapped and ransomed, a dictator fallen from grace involved in the Joke Trial of the Millenium (so far), and a country on the brink of outright civil war.
What don't we have that sticks out? A "Mission Accomplished," and the souls of our fighting men and women, lost to a lost cause. That is the greatest price we've paid.
Third, the Middle East has gone to hell in a very large handbasket. At this point, if it continues on, the handbasket will have to be discarded in favor of a very large toilet, because it's just a mess. Thanks to our government's asinine foreign policy involving that hunk of dirt and sand they call "The Holy Land," violence is breaking out faster than a nasty rash at an orgy. We have new Palestinian splinter groups springing up all the time and taking matters into their own hands, despite the best (?) efforts of the Palestinian government. We have Israeli attacks stepping up to meet those of said splinter groups, and a vicious retaliation cycle that never seems to end.
What's missing here? All common sense, really, as well as any hope for any sort of peace in that part of the world.
At home, the education system is going to hell. Teacher strikes, "Evolution vs. Creationism," substandard test scores, an ill-planned initiative (which I will call "Po' Child Left Behind" from now on), and American kids paying the price by being ill-trained to handle their futures.
Missing anything? Yep, it's that "American Superiority" we enjoyed for so many decades after the second World War.
Scandal after scandal has done everything but rock this administration to the ground as it should have been. The Plame leak case, Enron, the Domestic Spying Initiative, accountability for gross misconduct in regards to both wars...
MIA is accountability, and the resignations/impeachments of the asshats who signed off on this crap. Instead, low-level peons are taking the fall for the higher-ups, and the parade of sickness continues.
What. The. FUCK?!?
It's time we - as Americans, and those of us in other countries who refuse to be blinded by the fog of war set forth by the "Asses of Evil" and "Weapons of Crass Obstruction" - said "Enough." And not just individually. We need to unite our voices and crank the volume up to 11, and let Washington know they're fucking up; It's time for some far-reaching, ultra-sweeping changes.
And those changes need to start at the top, then work their way down through the ranks as quickly and heavy-handed as is possible.
Join the Coalition. Write your opinions. Find and post news stories about impeachment and the impeachment process. Educate the "normies" in your neighborhoods, schools and workplaces who don't get into reading blogs like BP and The IBC. Get the word out.
One voice is not enough. Thousands of voices is better, but still falls short. But MILLIONS. Millions can not be ignored!
I'm drawing the line right here.

Who's with me?
No Child Left Behind, My Ass
And this doesn't even have anything to do with Bush's bullshit initiative. No, school districts themselves are screwing over kids and teachers alike, all in the name of saving a few bucks. In Michigan, teachers in 227 schools are hitting the pickets, then being jerked around with regards to prompt negotiations. The district wants to hash off a 5.5% pay cut, which IMHO is a load of crap. (Link -- via Fark)
Let's face it people. Teachers are a resource we can't afford to screw around with. These are the people who we rely on (probably much more than we should) to educate our children and prepare them for the future. When teachers walk, children suffer. And why? All in the name of the almighty dollar. Because the district wants to save a few bucks. They can say it's to buy better books, improve facilities, and whatever education buzzwords they'd like to throw out there.
The fact of the matter is this: Our children's education isn't up to snuff with the rest of the world. Why? Because of petty crap like this. What we need to do is this: Pay teachers what they're worth. Then you have the conduit for passing on knowledge in place. Then you need to get the curriculum up to snuff. None of this "creationism vs. evolution" garbage. Just teach the vital sciences and be done with it . Then PARENTS need to impress a work ethic on their kids to encourage them to achieve more and more. Responsibility, passed around rather evenly, I think: The Admin supplies the knowledge, the Teachers pass it on, and the Parents prepare their kids to recieve the knowledge...
And while I'm on my soapbox: Seriously. Creationism? Look folks, you can't simply PRAY your kids to be smarter. Like the old saying goes, 'Wish in one hand, Shit in the other, See which fills up first." To take away the core subjects the rest of the world has no trouble teaching is to strip our kids of the ability to compete. The world doesn't run on prayer and miracles; it runs on know-how. And sadly, American children are severely lacking in the latter. I don't want my kids to fall victim to an educational ideology that's doomed to fail, and you shouldn't want yours to, either. The lines have to be drawn, and soon, so we can give these kids the chance to succeed that each and every one of them deserves...

LP Has Returned!!!
Yep, I'm back! It'll take me a bit to get back to full posting form, but rest assured, Blog Prophyts will, in fact, continue!
I really have to thank Corporal Kickyourass for keeping the home fires burning for me while I was away. Canadians just rule like that, of course.
At any rate, BP will return very, very soon, so stay tuned...
