BoingBoing Stabilized Film Festival

Well, either someone's performed a miracle, or this is an incredibly elaborate let-down. The news making the blog rounds right now is the stabilized version of the historic Zapruder JFK assassination film, which is notoriously shakey thanks to it being from a simple home camera operated by an amature. There's quite a bit of controversy over it (as usual), and whether it answers any questions, is a hoax, is a hoax of a hoax, or just some really nifty work on its own. (Link -- BB)

Not to be outdone, someone has created a stabilized animated GIF of another famous piece of shakey film, this time the Patterson-Gimlin bigfoot footage. If you ask me, the "man in a suit" theory works a little better with the film adjusted for the shake, because boy, are those movements ever exaggerated. I still hold out hope that the Yeti/Sasquatch exist, but this time, I can't say it ain't a dude in a gorilla costume. (Link -- BB)
