PennDOT Fails: I-70 Bridge Collapses
Only here in Pennsylvania, I guess. A bridge, originally designed to last only 40-50 years and lasted 45, finally collapsed after decades of corrosive road salt runoff and a history of trucks hitting the underside. The DOT recently fixed the two bridges and overpasses near exit 120 (Clearfield), so I feel a little bit better. But if they're lagging behind and missing a few key spans, then driving in PA just got a whole lot more interesting. And that, my dear readers, is your Blog Prophyts PA Travel Warning for 2006...
